The grass

I was supposed to bike out to the lake this morning to cox, but it was so humid last night that I slept poorly (why hello there, 3 am) and couldn't function when the alarm went off at 5. I stayed in bed until around 8, and then showered, ate breakfast, and looked out my window at the grass. Then I looked at the weather forecast.

We've been getting forecasts for dire weather events for the past couple of days, but they've all fizzled out before any rain actually hits the ground. The warnings sound more dire for this afternoon, and so it was time to go cut the grass again.

I should have showered and changed clothes after mowing. But when I get up in the morning, I always feel obligated to go to this thing that pays me from taxpayer money, to ensure the taxpayers get their money's worth, so that's my default program: get up, shower, put on clean work clothes.

Grass shouldn't be mowed first thing in the morning because of the dew. It can't wait until after work (see: tornadoes). So all my other plans had to go out the window and I have to mow.

Only the backyard this morning. Only one more hour of my life. I'll save weed-whacking the ditch and mowing the front for the next round, on Sunday. Hopefully the Saturday 300k won't be too exhausting.

Four more months, and then the mowing will become someone else's problem when I move out. And for two of those months, the mowing won't be my problem, anyway, because I'll be in Nebraska and my awesome roommate will do it.
