My house is perhaps too beautiful
Aug. 8th, 2007 08:58 amIt's hard to get work done when distracted by potential art projects. Seriously, I love my wee home. I love the light filtering in through the branches of the big mesquite tree outside my door. I love the brickwork and the exposed joists and the compactness that defies this part of the country.
The other day I re-encountered a piece by David Sedaris (read it here) which begins with a description of the small notebook he keeps in his pocket that contains (among other things) a self-indulgent gift idea list of gifts that other people might give to him. Ahh, a fellow jotter and list-writer.
When I engage in one of my favorite activities, visiting coffeeshops, I often like to pore through my Moleskine notebook and calendar, reading old lists and updating new ones with fresh plans and ideas. Thus, while engaging in these activities in Boston, I discovered that my List of Things to Acquire hasn't been seeing much action lately because I haven't been coming up with many ideas of things that I want to get. Don't get me wrong, there are a few older ideas to which I am still strongly attached (in particular, a nice bistro table--but I'm willing to wait until the right thing comes along--I've waited for a long time already and I can get by without one). It's just kind of nice to reach this point.

True Grounds, Somerville, MA. Note the left-handed latte (unrequested, even!).

Date: 2007-08-09 01:58 am (UTC)I noted the left-handed latte art in particular because my father and I had a discussion a while ago about the handedness of latte art--across the board, it's right-handed.

I've taken some brain tests on the internet, they generally say that I'm 50/50, equally right and left brained.
I would think you might be equally or almost equally right and left brained too, since you have an interest in science and art.
There are some brain tests on this page that I think are relatively good tests:
