Construction / Destruction
Sep. 18th, 2012 09:20 amIt looks like people are building a back porch for the house next door. I wish I knew more of the story for that house, but overall I'm just happy to see that it's getting attention and being improved.
The real surprise has been the house that's kitty-corner from ours (kitty-corner backyards). Over the weekend, it was reduced to a pile of rubble! The utility box was moved onto a pole at the edge of the yard, and the same is also true of the house next to it, so perhaps both units are getting knocked down and replaced by something. Hard to know what's going to happen over there. It always makes me a bit sad to see old houses get knocked down, because the houses that get built these days wind up being so slipshod. Plus, it's generally more environmentally-friendly to renovate instead of destroying a house and starting over.
But on the other hand, if this house is a good judge, the houses built around here aren't that great anyway. So it could be for the best, if something nicer replaces what used to be there.
I suppose it all just means I'd better get used to the sounds of construction trucks EVERYWHERE.
