Momentarily, it will be time for a party with my family. But given that some folks may want to see a few photos of recent events, well, here you are.

| The Bees' Knees
This drink was delicious. Gin, orange juice, lemon juice, honey, and lavender tincture, plus a nasturtium flower for garnish. The food at this place was also amazing. |
Portland Train Station

| Seattle miscellanea
On the same day, I also spotted some people holding signs for a car wash. Boys in shorty-shorts. Only in Seattle... |
Erickson Bicycles
A close-up would do these better justice. Some amazing lugs and amazing color schemes. Mechanics work in a shop behind the window. |

| Old Campagnolo Poster
R&E prides itself on using serviceable parts that won't go obsolete. |
Failed Parts Wall
I wish I knew how that one piece managed to melt. |

| Old-timey bike photos
I've seen a tandem with the setup shown in the upper left. |

They use this for laser alignment of frames |
Frame Jig
The guy who was down there welding when I took the photo said this thing weighs around a ton. It is designed to be customizable for the 18 stock frame sizes they offer, plus the occasional custom frames customers request. |

| Hey, check out that awesome garden!
...I mean, new bicycle! |
Shiny bicycle.
My front hub hasn't arrived yet, so they gave me a loaner wheel for the front. When I go back to get the wheels swapped, I'll also have them cut the headtube. But it's one of those things that can't be reattached if something changes... |

Date: 2012-08-12 12:28 am (UTC)The new bike looks great: a black beauty, no doubt.
I rode with my headtube uncut for probably 400km, which gave me a chance to try out different riding positions as I moved the stem up and down with different spacers. I ended up as one would expect with the stem down as low as it can go, with 5 degrees of rise.

Date: 2012-08-12 12:39 am (UTC)I was so glad they let me take photos of the shop space! I knew some folks would be interested, and it's such an awesome space. That doesn't even include their wheelbuilding shop, basic mechanics space, or frame painting studio.

Thanks for including the photos of the shop. Technical details are always interesting to me, even if it's outside of the hobbies I am directly interested in.
PS - Boys in booty shorts happens in SF too...Just Sayin'! ;) ;) ;)
