Momentarily, it will be time for a party with my family. But given that some folks may want to see a few photos of recent events, well, here you are.

The Bees' Knees Portland Train Station
The Bees' Knees This drink was delicious. Gin, orange juice, lemon juice, honey, and lavender tincture, plus a nasturtium flower for garnish. The food at this place was also amazing. Portland Train Station

Seattle miscellanea On the same day, I also spotted some people holding signs for a car wash. Boys in shorty-shorts. Only in Seattle... Erickson Bicycles A close-up would do these better justice. Some amazing lugs and amazing color schemes. Mechanics work in a shop behind the window.

Hey, check out that awesome garden! Shiny bicycle.
Hey, check out that awesome garden! ...I mean, new bicycle! Shiny bicycle. My front hub hasn't arrived yet, so they gave me a loaner wheel for the front. When I go back to get the wheels swapped, I'll also have them cut the headtube. But it's one of those things that can't be reattached if something changes...

zomg what a beautiful shop. I'm so envious.
The new bike looks great: a black beauty, no doubt.
I rode with my headtube uncut for probably 400km, which gave me a chance to try out different riding positions as I moved the stem up and down with different spacers. I ended up as one would expect with the stem down as low as it can go, with 5 degrees of rise.

Heh, yeah, I suspect I'll ride it with the headtube uncut and won't change anything, and will then leave it exactly as it is. Not only is the shop there beautiful, but they do a fantastic job of fitting people (and not just racers). But one must always leave one's headtube uncut for just a little while, just in case.

I was so glad they let me take photos of the shop space! I knew some folks would be interested, and it's such an awesome space. That doesn't even include their wheelbuilding shop, basic mechanics space, or frame painting studio.

Ride your lovely new bicycle in good health and fair tail winds. Hope we'll be getting feedback on it for long. Jim

I just read the most fun thing this morning that made me think of you. It's a Festival of Biking at Blenheim Palace. The Brompton race has people riding their bicycles in a jacket and tie. (kind of emulating commuting sorts) I saw a few pictures and it looked pretty funny. Such a clever idea amidst gorgeous surroundings.

Ahh, how wonderful! Friends and I have long talked about having a Practicality-Cat (vs. alleycat race), involving riding a bicycle while dressed in a suit and having to complete a range of practically-minded tasks, like picking up a load of groceries and such. I guess some people in Portland had one, once, a year or two ago. That whole festival of biking looks like it would make for a fun weekend.

I wish everyone was here right now. It is glorious. GLORIOUS. Let's declare that Christmas shall be in August from now on, so everyone must gather close with family and friends. And make jam and such things.

Great photos!

The bike is gorgeous!!! I can't wait to hear about the adventures you have with it. :)

Thanks for including the photos of the shop. Technical details are always interesting to me, even if it's outside of the hobbies I am directly interested in.

PS - Boys in booty shorts happens in SF too...Just Sayin'! ;) ;) ;)
