Time for some photos. Here's how the caulking process went for the kitchen sink, once I got the caulk and caulk gun #2 to cooperate.

Waaaay better. Congratulations!
A razor scraper -- one of the type that use old single razor blades as its cutting tool -- does a good job of the bead removal process because it's so easy to slide into tiny places.
