I GOT A NEW COMPUTER!!!!!!!

It's a Powerbook G4. It came with Panther (alas, says boolean263). It is very pretty.

It reminds me of a fortune cookie that I got from Archie McPhee: Say to the next person you see: Look at me. I am pretty.

Okay, all you compy geeks out there--any free software recommendations?

Free software recommendations? Well, my standard suggestion is Firefox. You may not bother with it, since you've got Safari, which is a decent browser. But I've stumbled on enough Safari quirks that I'd be sticking with Firefox if I ever got a Mac.

I haven't used Mail.app much, but if you find it doesn't suit you, there's always Thunderbird.

I know you're a nerd like me, but I don't know how much of a Unix geek you are. You might be interested in Fink, if only to get OS X ports of favourites like the Gimp or GAIM. Or... can it be?... yes!... Fink also has a port of PINE!
