rebeccmeisterYesterday's bike ride wore me out pretty well - I slept in until 9 this morning.
Today was a somewhat lazy day of projects. I was hoping to make it a bit further along with a couple of the woodworking projects, so I could post photos of sketches of plans for those projects. There are four such projects, really - the door-desk, the door-table, a kitchen counter unit, and shelving made from door pieces. I don't have the right sizes/shapes of wood for all four projects just yet, so it's time to head to the drawing board to figure out what else I'll need. In the meantime, I've now sanded down most of the door-wood, and am nearly ready to start filling in all of the holes. I also picked up some polyacrylic coating to try out on the wood, with the idea that it would allow some of the history of the wood to show through. We'll see how that goes.
I think I'm finally settling on a design for the shelves as well. A little while ago, I came across an Instructable for building shelves out of wine bottles and wood. I don't think I have quite enough door-wood to build full shelves out of just the wood, and on top of that, they don't recycle green glass out here, so this seems like a good use of the materials at hand. I'll have to pick up some turnbuckles and the proper drill bits, but then I should be in business on that front. These shelves also disassemble easily, as an added bonus.
Well. More plots and schemes tomorrow, I am sure.
