Happy birthday to my brother, who is precisely one year and 360 days older than me. I have not gotten him a present yet, per our verbal agreement that first I must find something that reminds me of him and second I must not associate the giving of the gift with any date-of-birth celebrations or with the norm of reciprocity.

My advisor and I ordered our lab's espresso machine yesterday. Now I need to order latte and capuccino cups, as well as a frothing pitcher, milk thermometer, portafilters, a tamper, and an espresso grinder. Then the espresso lessons can commence.

I also need to find a good book on lace crochet, which means that I might need to figure out how to get myself to Scottsdale this weekend. Always an interesting process.

Guess where? Ikea! Well, not for all of it, but the mugs in particular will be most economical there. Sur la Table has the rest, I'm sure..want to do some shopping with me next week? If you want to avoid Ikea, you can give me specifications and I can just pick up what you need. Miss ya!

Yeah, I looked at the mugs at Ikea when I was there with T and A, and they weren't quite the right shape or weight. Instead, I found everything at Visions Espresso for a pretty good price--shipping was a bit, but I'm sure it was still cheaper than Sur La Table! Sur La Table has lots of pretty stuff, but it's really overpriced, in my humble opinion. ;) But thanks for the offer!
