Events and Happenings
Jan. 29th, 2005 01:22 pmI shall begin with yesterday morning. We had a tough crew practice (lunges uphill and more), and then I came back home and used the moka pot that E gave me for the first time. I've been saving some tasty Jamaican coffee that my brother gave me, and I must say it made for a tasty drink. I'm still not one hundred percent certain that the latte frother is a useful invention--it's just not the same as properly foamed milk--but it's fun.
Then came school, which, like many jobs, isn't worth mentioning all the time, so I'll skip ahead. Oh--at some point I found out that
jwatriss might be able to throw together most of the requisite pieces to create a new bike for me. He's my new hero. But first I have to take the proper precautionary steps to make sure any future bike will not be stolen.
After school came some sitting around and chatting, and then T and a couple of his anthropology friends and I went to see Calexico. I think we were there for a whole twenty minutes when the first familiar faces from the School of Life Sciences appeared. Then there were more, and then there were more. I had sort of been hoping for some general anonymity, but whatever. One of the bands that played was pretty fun, and so was Calexico, although some of the Latin rhythms really made me want to Salsa. I should take Salsa lessons, though, because that would make it all more fun. I have a certain level of incoordination to overcome. Someday. Perhaps if I want to take a break from painting sometime.
Then this morning I got up for a crew mini-triathlon, which I finished in one hour, nine minutes, and forty-two seconds. By yesterday evening I was getting sore, and by now I move at granny-speed. Now it's off to a crew birthday party, and then maybe I'll dissolve into a puddle somewhere.
Here's something completely unrelated:
Steps for Doing Anything
1. I listen. (this involves figuring out what your goal is)
2. I think about it.
3. I get ready.
4. I do it.
5. I clean up.
6. I celebrate
