18 down, 22 to go.
Sep. 16th, 2007 06:27 pmI am approaching the midway point in grading my students' first lab reports for the semester. Overall, the process is going well. I'd chalk that up to the fact that I required that they hand in drafts one week before the final reports were due, and then I gave them near-instantaneous feedback so they could revise for their final versions (a bit of extra work on my part, but worth it in the long run). Only one pair of students has clumsily attempted to paraphrase each other so far. It's still quite hard to get myself to focus on the grading, but a ready supply of sugar has helped. Or so I'd like to believe. I have a lot of snacks lying around the house all of a sudden.
Also: roasted figs stuffed with goat cheese and drizzled with honey are absolutely heavenly. They're also quite simple to make.

Date: 2007-09-18 06:38 pm (UTC)So no, they are not allowed to work on assignments together. However, this doesn't mean they can't talk to each other about the assignments or review each others' work after the assignments have been completed. But I consider it to be a waste of my time to grade two assignments that are identical or that are simply paraphrased versions of each other. Usually such assignments are poorly written anyway.
