Solo Habits
Nov. 16th, 2021 11:37 amS is on a train back to California for now, escaping well ahead of any nasty late fall/early winter weather that New York might throw down. So it's back to solo life for me, a moment when I am extra aware of the little habits and changes needed when by myself. For instance:
-Making sure to flush the toilet before I leave the house in the morning
-Making sure Emma is fed and watered and given however much thyroid medication she needs, first thing in the morning
-Turning down the thermostat for the day (Emma now has a heating pad and space heater to keep her cave cozy, which I'm hoping will be cheaper than using natural gas to keep the whole house warm)
-Doing my best to get home ASAP in the evenings, for Emma's sake
This week I am also hoping to reset myself for a winter rowing and strength training regimen. I managed a short warmup routine this morning, at least.
There's more, I'm sure. The shift back to just me and Emma is a reminder of those early pandemic shutdown days, all over again.
