Double-Poke update

Definitely feeling SOMETHING now, so I guess that's good because it means my immune system's getting primed against either the flu, the 'itis*, or both. I did not feel like this with the previous flu shot or prior two 'itis shots, so that's interesting.

I hear the flu shot this year is, as one of my friends put it, especially "spicy."

I was particularly tired the evening after I got mine.

I had aches and chills and fatigue for around 36 hours after my flu shot. I have a very enthusiastic innate immune system.

I am sure I will get a booster when the time comes (sort of eligible now, but barely). Can't say I'm looking forward to it though.

FWIW they are not checking closely when it comes to booster eligibility these days. They're just happy to keep getting shots in arms. I think it's generally a good idea. In particular, there's evidence that getting a mixture of Pfizer and Moderna can confer better immunity than just one or the other.

I'm grateful to report that I'm feeling much better again, whew!

I am bemused to report that this year's flu shot is the least noticeable flu shot I can recall; I usually get at least a bit of the flu-like bone ache, and this year is nigh-nothing. About an hour of sore arm.

Huh! My mom also reported a sore arm, although for a longer timeframe.

This is only my second year ever getting a flu shot, so I don't have much personal history to work off of.

Been getting flu shots since... 2002? 2001? Somewhere in there. Had bad flu at 30 and I do not want to do that again.

(I know it's a vain hope, but if general COVID precautions really do make the flu extinct that would be splendid.)

Given the sort of people who seem to be inflamed by the need to get vaccinated, "hemorroids" might be a more appropriate name. ;)

I felt nothing with this year's flu shot and haven't had my booster, but my first two Moderna shots definitely gave me chills and sleepiness for 1 evening.

I'm relieved to report that I feel WAY better today! My mom said this year's flu shot gave her a sore arm. So now I have to figure I can credit the sore arm to the flu shot, and that wild 24h rollercoaster to the Moderna adjuvants. From what I understand, the Moderna adjuvants are more feisty than the Pfizer ones.
