Today I:

-Sewed 3 buttons back on a dress shirt that has been out of commission for over a month

-Replaced my smart-o-phone's battery with a replacement battery obtained several months ago

-Had a long lunch with friends/colleagues to talk about assessment in our courses

-Cut some lexan so I could add pumps/filters to the betta tanks, and moved Bubba back over with the other bettas for while I am gone

New lids and pumps

I still need to:

-Clean cricket bins

-Review data analysis and results prepared by a collaborator

This is also a time for inventorying projects. Which things and projects will I try to bring along with me? Which projects are going to get left behind for now?

I put the sweater knitting away for now. I didn't do much knitting when I lived in Arizona. It was too hot to knit.

But I might work on a small crochet project; I want to make a carrier that will hold my portable speaker along with whatever device it's connected to (mp3 player, smart-o-phone) so I can move them as a unit.

I'm debating whether or not to bring along the quilted cat bed project. That one has languished for quite a while now. An alternative would be to track down the appropriate kind of walking foot for my sewing machine and to then just finish the quilting by machine instead of by hand.

I really want to be working on sewing shirts, but that project doesn't strike me as being particularly portable. For the moment, I moved my pattern-transferring supplies out to the front porch again, where there's space to spread out and at least finish transferring the pattern onto newsprint.

I don't think I'll bring along papercut supplies. Drawing is fairly portable, though.

I miss ceramics.

I'm being a nag but if you haven't already, drop a quick note to students who are probably just as nervous about housing as you are in AZ.

I did nothing today. Lots of boat projects yesterday to the point where I wasn't in bed until 1am. A lot of urgent things didn't get tended to in the past few years and got way worse, which is frustrating. 100 degrees yesterday took a lot of me so just stuck myself in the river this afternoon. Should do some stuff this evening tho. Maybe (depends how things shake out, may regret it later) having a little time is alien.

Yay, projects!

I rebuilt the head, which involved unbolting the bowl from the pump/frame, getting it free of the discharge hose, disassembling a double-action pump, and replacing about often fussy little parts, after having misplaced the rebuild instructions and failing to find them anywhere. It now no longer sprays toilet water at you when you pump, and also now actually pumps again. It was not super pleasant and it's still prehistoric. The corroded stainless parts can't be had anywhere so they'll probably be the end of it before any of the various seals and gaskets and flappers need to be replaced again.

Also not super pleasant, I took about 20 bolts holding the galley counter's cutting board including grinding two bolts off, cleaned out all of the mold under it, then put white silicone caulking around the edges and in the bolt holes. Previously there was just a gap on the edges and it was a nasty mess that was impossible to clean, plus leaking under the cutting board and growing mold.

Quickie job of cleaning the decks. Checked transmission fluid. Have been transferring old diesel out, one gallon at a time, with a road can I hunted down just for that task. Got permission from someone with a large work truck to dump the diesel in there.

Re-did fiberglass bedding/tabbing around the aft portside of the engine bed and re-tabbed starboard bulkhead in the corner by where the chainplates bolt after taking a few chainplate bolts out to overlap the tabbing with the upper bolts. That also accomplishes inspecting the chainplate bolts.

Hardware store for bolts for the head's bowl and caulking and of course other things. Few groceries. Made some chick peas. Have been doing a terrible job of eating veggies aside from the salsa I pour on stuff which the chick peas also got.

Previously, rebedding mast hardware, which is still ongoing.

Need to rebed some more stuff on deck.
