Barometer sinuses continued [notes to self]

My barometer sinus headaches aren't so terrible that I'm confined to bed. Instead, they produce those feelings of malaise that make everything harder to do. When the headache dragged on through the storms of yesterday afternoon, I tried taking an ibuprofen last night before bed, but as of this morning I still had dark circles under my eyes and the headache lingered.

So I'm not sure the ibuprofen did much.

At least I'm feeling well enough now to finish grading.

Lingering sinus headaches are such a bummer, ugh. I don't remember if you're a soda drinker but I find that I get the best relief from advil combined with a caffeinated cola (pepsi and coke both have sugar-only versions with no corn syrup and the maine root brand is good too). I think the vasoconstriction effect of the caffeine really helps relieve some of the internal pressure.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have to be careful with caffeine but it might be worth experimenting. I should note that my usual morning cup of coffee didn't seem to do much in this case, sigh!

I am not that kind of scientist (that's my disclaimer here) but I have a theory that something about the sugar+caffeine+bubbles makes for a different delivery system and is the key to how it works. Coffee or tea doesn't work for headaches, on me!

In either case - I think the weather is going to mellow out a bit now that that huge front has come through. We had big thunderstorms here last night too.

I think you could very much be onto something with the sugar/caffeine/bubble combination! I think a similar thing goes on with drinking ginger ale when one's stomach is upset - even when the ginger ale isn't REAL ginger ale it still seems to help, for me at least. Bicarbonate is a biologically active substance, after all. :^)

Yeah you want about 60-80 mg caffeine with you NSAIDS.
