Extreme misc [garden, work]
Oct. 6th, 2020 03:54 pm1. The wildflower garden is all kinds of silly colors right now:

I don't know what kind of bushes those are, but I LOVE the beautiful red color they turn in the fall.
2. I'm getting really tired of the glare on the whiteboard for my recording setup. I tried attaching some of this random packing material directly to the light fixtures, but that didn't work so well. Today it occurred to me that I have inherited a set of PVC frames, probably for creating quadrats while doing fieldwork.
Behold:

Life is ridiculous sometimes. Okay, most of the time.

Date: 2020-10-07 12:49 am (UTC)The bush looks like a Burning Bush. Very pretty, but invasive in three ways! Unchecked, they grow to shade out everything else, they send out suckers, and they sow seeds like mad. I planted one before I knew how bad it is, and now I have to go at it hammer and tongs to keep it under control. Sadly, it is pretty when nothing else is, and it's now tall enough to provide partial shade to things that can't take the afternoon heat.

Date: 2020-10-07 01:43 pm (UTC)The burning bushes on this property haven't really given us any major problems, but that could be a product of where they're situated and the fact that we don't own the place, heh. There are two planted right outside our dining room windows and in that spot they are a fantastic screen between our house and the neighbors' house. The landlord keeps those pruned. The two that flank the wildflowers are getting to be a bit wild but we aren't trying to grow much else in that part of the yard.
