So, hypothetically speaking, if you found a coconut floating in the Hudson River, and if you cracked it open and the flesh still looked perfectly good...

would you eat it?

Hudson River treasure

You know, hypothetically speaking.

(I did rinse it off fairly thoroughly!)

Since I assume you're asking for a friend, :) I'd tell them to see if the chem department analytical lab is up and running. Give 'em a sample of the husk and milk and let 'em tell you what's in it. If there's nothing too odd, I'd eat it.

I was going to joke Hudson yes, East River no, but then I realized I wasn't sure which was more polluted. Google was not helpful here.

So I'm going to skip the joke and just say no. Because cracking a coconut is a lot of work.

Cracking a coconut is a lot of work! But if you like coconuts that much... Sure! Why not? I doubt any flesh-eating microbes could penetrate that husk.

You're sure that's a coconut? I see a pointy little nose and a glistening eye on that hairy little critter. Maybe check behind it for a long, skinny tail, lol...
