I feel like I got more out of reading the Broken Earth trilogy.

This book read more like a movie, and just felt like it had less literary merit. So, shrug.

Anybody want my copy?

I'm already in line at the library for it, but I had a conversation about the weekend marches that was strangely similar in theme. (We were talking about data-driven policy, and I said "well, by that logic, what if we only let people who are not men have firearms?". No one found that an acceptable policy socially, we don't want to encourage gender discrimination, but it was pretty inarguable that the vast majority of death-by-firearms cases, a man is the shooter, and some interesting unexamined assumptions on everyone's part came out of the subsequent discussion about why we shouldn't approach it that way. The hypothetical reminded me of "The Power".)

If you're in the mood for some quality high fantasy good to chase it with, I just finished Uprooted by Naomi Novik and enjoyed it thoroughly.
