The empty lot that used to be home to Gentle Strength Co-op is still empty. Mill Ave is still uninteresting, aside from the relocated ceramics center. I saw one of Bridget's pieces as I walked past. Hello, Bridget. I still miss you, especially as I think over my creative ambitions.

Delice Bistro, a cafe with really good savory croissants that only opened a year or two ago, looks decidedly closed.

Cartel Coffee is unchanged.

The mountainsides are green right now.

I am remembering how easy it was to strap camping gear on my bike, roll out my front door, and head out to the mountains.

Lots of hot desert smell-associated memories, too.

That was the hardest thing for me about moving to Portland from a tiny farming town: I was used to having a nearly infinite wilderness area out the back door, and the transition to having to ride for an hour and a half just to not be in urban traffic was really depressing.
