Well, then.
Jul. 13th, 2005 10:46 pmI came home from work at about 3:30 and felt strange/tired, so I took a nap on the couch and then skipped climbing to nap some more. As my friend O said, I think that too much work started catching up with me. The quiet time was just what the doctor ordered. After all that napping and lounging about, I had a Helga moment* and vacuumed the living room and dining room. I filled up the vacuum cleaner twice in the process! Yay clean house!
Then O came back from climbing and we went on an expedition to Lee Lee Oriental Supermarket. It was spectacular! For the Tempe area, it was a major cultural event. Tons of cheap produce, and lots of foods with labels written in other languages. The strange part of the store was that they had the same spices in multiple locations. Just the packaging changed from one location to another. By multiple locations, I mean 4 or 5 different places. Tons of sesame seeds and fenugreek seeds and cardamom, etc.
And then there was the highlight of the trip. We took a tour down the cookies and crackers aisle, and found these things called milk cakes. Actually, my family refers to them as Japanese Twinkies, because my dad brought them back from Japan a couple of times, and they're pretty much like twinkies, but with more cake and less filling. And I think these might actually be baked. Anyway, the Japanese Twinkies were a big hit, but we haven't been able to find anything remotely like them ever since. So I was probably overly excited when I found the equivalent at Lee Lee's. Although they weren't quite as fresh as the ones from Japan, they were still delicious.
After all that was done, O and I had some girly moments--trying on dresses, etc. Whee!
So 'twas a strange day, overall, but it definitely ended on a good note.
