Gearing Up

Well. It has been a busy week and a half, to put it mildly. Tomorrow is the next installment in the spring brevet series hosted by the Houston Randonneurs. There are 400k and 600k options. Seeing as J and I did not make it to the previous 400k, we'll work on that one starting tomorrow morning at 5 am.
I'm still recovering from this flu, to some extent, so I'm not particularly optimistic about the ride. When I was waiting for the train at Loudeac in 2011, I met an Australian man who had to drop out of the Paris-Brest-Paris because he just couldn't keep any food down. It's hard to keep the pace up when one can't get enough energy in. I'm bringing along a lot of fruit this time, plus the usual granola bars. And this:

That's a pile of two different kinds of burritos, breakfast burritos with egg, potato, and squash, and garlicky-kale burritos with black beans and rice (no cheese). After the last brevet, J and I started joking about how it would be a good idea to whip up multiple different kinds of burritos. With 15 burritos total, and 250 miles to cover, that's a burrito for every 16.7 miles. Although I should probably share some with J.
I'll charge the cell-o-phone tonight, so I should be able to voice update from the road tomorrow.
