Of course while I was up in Seattle over Thanksgiving I failed to acquire a 2014 Moleskine planner. It was just too early to be thinking of such things at the time. So I've had to order one on teh Internets instead, and here I am, in 2014, still waiting for my paper planner. That always makes me feel a tad disorganized, even though, at this point, I write out and communicate various plans in multiple formats. The digital format is underway. I just like writing things down on paper, with a pen.

To recover from this sense of disorganization, I've been writing and rewriting lists instead of events. I'm finished with the mad rush of making things and packaging them up to send to people, thank goodness, so I can focus on the things I wish to make for myself or for around the house instead. Here are some items on some lists:

Sewing
-Fix zipper on skirt
-Fix hole in pants pocket (hmm, learn how to take in pants waists, too?)
-To make: a casserole carrier, bike tool kit, potholder(s), bike seat cover, quilt

Knitting
-Just started a vest for myself last night; I still have a ton of other yarn in my stash to use, too, but don't have many other specific projects at the moment
-Baby booties/socks (yep. another friend having a baby, but it's a summer baby in AZ, so probably a hat won't be so necessary.)

Other
-Paint a design on an oar for the Aggie Rowing Silent Auction
-Create a hoop system out of conduit + wood for the bird netting to go over the tomatoes (trying to avoid PVC if I can...)
-Follow up on a dorky greeting card gift idea
-Work on managing my music collection: I have a bunch of CDs I want to rip, and then I want to continue the process of transferring stuff out of iTunes.

Bike Maintenance (many of which are projects demanding immediate attention, once I obtain the necessary parts)
-Put spoke reflectors on Froinlavin
-Obtain a rear generator light for Froinlavin from Peter White
-Replace Froinlavin's bar tape
-Swap out the Jolly Roger's brifters and cables (shifters are pretty much toast, after 10 years of daily use)
-Replace the Jolly Roger's brake pads
-Probably replace the Jolly Roger's chainrings and cranks (starting to skip)
-Replace the Jolly Roger's tires

It can be difficult to maintain momentum on the projects on these lists, because these are the kinds of things that I want to work on after a full day of other things, like working, long bike rides, cooking, rowing, and hanging out with friends and [livejournal.com profile] scrottie. But at least if the things are recorded somewhere, I have half a chance of remembering them so I don't wind up with a vague sense that there are things I want to get done but I don't know what they are.
