Somewhere in the stream of love

For some reason, it seems to me like I'm seeing more highly entertaining things pop up on the book of face in regards to this hallmark holiday this year as compared to last. It's a trend I approve of - the more ridiculous and silly the pun, the better, as far as I'm concerned.
It seems like Valentine's Day elicits a lot of strong reactions in people. As much stock as I put into my relationship with
scrottie, the thing I like better about it is the idea of celebrating love for friends and family. A Latin-American graduate student was telling me that it's celebrated as a "Friendship Day" there. This sense stems from my overall thinking that it's kind of short-sighted to put all of one's stock into a single relationship. It seems to me that people who do, and then find that relationship collapsing, create a much more difficult social situation for themselves than those who can figure out how to balance the needs/demands/attention/fun of a primary relationship against the needs/demands/attention/fun of other relationships.
So, hooray for friends and family, for all of the support and encouragement you provide! I wish I got to see more of you, in person, more of the time, for you make me feel alive. Though the opportunities to spend time together are rare, they are precious. Let's continue to make the most of them.
