The members of the Scrabble Society are dispersing across the country, and across the globe. While I think we are all sad to see this longstanding tradition break up (have we been doing this for a full six years?!), we thought we'd end it well, by an expedition out to Pizzeria Bianco. The head chef there has perfected his pizza crust recipe, and the place is so popular that one must plan ahead and arrive early to be ensured of a dinner. The wait for dinner will pass quite pleasantly, however, because just next door is Bar Bianco, where you can have a glass of wine or beer and eat some olives (if you like olives) or crostini.
D, E, and I arrived earliest, so we had some time to fit in a Scrabble game before L and S joined us. The long outdoor picnic table and beautiful weather made for the perfect setting. Oh, plus the wild kitties frolicking around on the grass.

I also baked a chocolate-apricot-pecan torte for S's birthday, which was that evening. We left a large slice for the chef. Hopefully he enjoyed it as much as we did. I used apricots that S and I dried last spring, plus eggs from the garden, and some pecans from our CSA. Smug torte.
