Well, then (Los Angeles, CA)

Well, one leg of the train travel adventure down, one leg to go! I think we learned a thing or two from this first leg of the trip:
1.
scrottie gets really surly when he has to sit/try to sleep next to a twitchy woman who gets up repeatedly and watches DVDs all through the night.
2. Children can be really squirmy (my seat companion), but at least they share their blankets and are warm.
3. Next time, if the coach car is full, we should try sleeping in the lounge car, or should just get a damned sleeper car.
4. Breakfast was served. At 5:30 am.
5. I still really like trains. I find their motion really peaceful and soothing, unlike car travel or bus travel or airplane travel. It's so civilized to be able to get up and walk around.
6. It's cloudy in Los Angeles. I think water even fell from the sky and landed on me. It has been ages since that has happened.
7. Hey, train stations are occasionally located near the center of town! We were able to stroll out of the station and land in a coffeeshop.
Our next leg will be on the Coast Starlight, which travels between Seattle and Los Angeles. This is supposed to be a lovely and scenic route. I'm sure I will report back.
