A Quiet Day. I:

Woke up, showered, ate breakfast, did laundry.

Gave the chickens some sprouted wheat to gobble up.

Went to school, read e-mails, sent e-mails, which said something or another.

Attended a meeting.

Counted larvae in one sample. Four more to go.

Outlined ant fungus, to measure its area.

Tonight, I will:

Make krumkake.

Design the Scrabble Society Soiree Invitation.

Read up on a few things in my ceramics book to prepare for the next set of projects.

Play Scrabble.

Discuss chicken-rearing with a few friends.

Cook beans.

I also would like to:

Write thank-you notes for Christmas gifts and letters.

Mend scrottie's pants, and sew buttons onto his mug-warmer.

Make a small bicycling map for First Fridays.

Work on the Phoenix Bike Guide.

I am disturbed by this "krumkake"

Every time you write it I parse it as some unknown fermented substance, vaguely Japanese perhaps what with the "kake" ending.

But maybe it's just an alternate spelling of crumb cake.

They were quite delicious, especially filled with whipped cream and orange slices! Though I agree, the name is rather odd.

We are also thinking about filling them with some caramel sauce, which will make them very much like stroopwafels!
