I feel like I'm arriving at a state of done-ness with respect to Facebook. It's a cacophony of one-liners, and I'm returning to one of those states where I'm content to just keep up with a select group of people instead. Even when I'm away from the internets for a week or two, I still feel like I can catch up on Livejournal. Not so on the other social networking site.

I brought a five-pound box of satsumas back from Minneapolis. I have only eaten five today. So far. The Japanese student who sits in the cubicle next to me was surprised to learn that they are available in parts of the US. He had given up looking for them. I'm a little suspicious about things, considering that the box of satsumas came from California. Do they just figure that Arizona already has enough citrus? Why do they bother shipping those silly Cuties (=gross Clementines) all the way over from Florida? The clementine-growers must be forceful lobbyists or something.

I was kind of anxious when I woke up this morning because there is always too much to do on Mondays. I'm only in town until a week from Friday before I ship off to Seattle for almost three weeks. Yikes. I hope things in Seattle proceed at a more leisurely pace than Minneapolis - while MN was fun, it was also accomplished at a sprinting pace.

WiFi on my laptop was working very badly. Boy were those the days. Now it don't work at all. Must be nice, being able to make the decision not to access torrents of gibberish rather than having that decision made for you. I've been itching to write a post myself. At my mother's place, setting up her Mac. So far so good. She's still opening a new tab every time she wanted to find a different email message and leaving 20 gmail tabs open and I doubt she'll be able to find her documents she writes in her Documents folder when I'm not her but otherwise the computer and her are getting along splendidly. Oh yeah, and the inkjet printer ink is dry. Right now, iPhoto is vacuuming up the 281 pics on my mother's camera.

We played Illuminati (actually, Hacker... very similar) last night, had dinner at Linda's friend Mary's, and I wasted way too much time fighting with the laptop. Usually when I go on vacation, it's the power adapter that goes out, not the WiFi card.

Miss you.
