Simplicity

As I look out of the window, the sky has turned a fiery orange, and palm trees and square buildings are silhouetted black against it.
I've been working on my dissertation proposal for almost the entire day today. I am finding that the most difficult thing about it is distilling my thoughts down to simple sentences that march along in a logical progression. I spent most of the day combing through a stack of articles about leaf selection by leafcutter ants (a surprisingly contentious subject), and now all of those ideas are jumbled in my mind, on top of ideas about trophic interactions and elemental stoichiometry (relative amounts of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus).
It's hard to be patient, to learn how to put things together into a story, for this is a storytelling process.
