Planets close together in the morning?
Jan. 31st, 2008 09:50 amDear astronomy-types,
Am I correct in recalling that two planets are supposed to be visible in the morning hours, somewhat close to the moon? I'm hoping that's what I noticed this morning.

Date: 2008-01-31 05:25 pm (UTC)At this point in the year and planetary cycles, Saturn is also visible, and visible quite nicely, as the rings are tilted at about at 16 degree angle, making them visible with consumer telescopes and high-magnification binoculars!
So if I had to guess, I'd say you're seeing Jupiter and Venus. Hooray!

Date: 2008-01-31 11:09 pm (UTC)I still need to look for plane tickets for spring break. My break is: Mar 8-15. I could come for a few days, I think, on either end of things.

Hope to see you!!
