Thing the first: Rowing

It was one of those mornings. I should have gone rowing yesterday morning, but my butt still hurt after rowing 30,000m on Sunday on an erg. Select audience members can relate to how this feels. I also planned to go to the gym Monday, but if Tuesday morning was bad, Monday morning was much, much worse. I know I'll survive the marathon in a week and a half, but it won't be pretty, that's for sure. But that's why we're doing it, because the marathon that REALLY counts is the one on the water in November. I'll get there. Some days are just slightly more painful than others.
Anyway, I did at least make it on the water this morning. It was fairly quiet, since most of the Outlaws have abandoned me for various reasons. There was one guy visiting from Maine, so I helped him put his boat in the water and then got in two not-so-clean laps around the lake. Ugh. Some mornings, I wake up and have a fantastic row. But I'm finding that in the single, I really have to be mentally and physically on top of it to have a good row, much more so than in larger boats. I'm doing better than I used to do, mostly because I'm getting more sleep these days, but it's still challenging.
