Dear Lazyweb,
I have the unprecedented opportunity to assemble an alcohol collection from scratch. Recommendations? (along with what to mix them with)

Date: 2006-08-18 09:00 pm (UTC)Good burbon
Triple Sec
Angostera Bitters
A nice vodka
Sweet vermouth
Tia Maria?
For mixing - ginger beer, coke, soda or tonic water, lots of lemons and limes.
Not all at once, mind you. ;)

Date: 2006-08-19 12:07 am (UTC)How do you define good? Well, I've been accused of being a wine snob *grin* but generally speaking, if you like it...buy it!

Heh, I already have 3 bottles of red sitting around, so that takes care of at least one item.

Date: 2006-08-19 05:49 am (UTC)I get the impression you're not much of a beer person. It's probably just as well though, since all the beers I could suggest probably aren't available way out your way. I'm not a beer snob, but I definitely prefer microbrews to the mass-market horse urine they pass off as mainstream beer.

Date: 2006-08-22 08:49 pm (UTC)2 bottles of really good scotch (Macallan and Glenkitchie, though I wouldn't mind some Glenlivet when I get close to finishing these)
1 bottle of good gin (I happen to like Bombay Sapphire, though Tanqueray has more flavor for martinis)
1 big ass bottle of mediocre gin (tonic is strong enough to wash out the less than stellar taste of a cheap gin--I tend toward Seagrams for the G&T)
1 brandy, for those cold winter nights or hot toddies when sick
To buy:
A russian vodka
irish cream
relatively cheap irish whiskey
