Mental image [rowing]
Aug. 3rd, 2020 09:30 amThere was a Tornado Watch yesterday due to Tropical Storm Isaias yesterday, but as best I can tell nothing at all ever materialized here, not even a decent thunderstorm.
Instead it stayed warm and humid all night, the kind of humidity where it feels like the water droplets in the air have water droplets on them.
Not the best for sleeping.
But I made myself get up anyway for rowing practice this morning.
As a result of the weather, the sky and the clouds and the sun did some amazing things above the water. As usual I did not bring a camera with me in WBY, so you just have to imagine it all: every shade of pink, blue, peach, orange, and yellow, with calm water and trees greening brightly along the shore. Even the skyscrapers in downtown Albany glittered like gold in the morning light. I wound up out ahead of the other singles, so it was mostly just me, the WBY, the river, and the sky.
There was one random tugboat headed downstream, up by the Menands Bridge, and a sailboat headed upstream, at the Train Bridge, with its mast still up. There have been work crews on the train bridge, and this morning they had the bridge rotated open for whatever it is they are trying to accomplish.
Here's a story about the history of our train bridge, here: http://alloveralbany.com/archive/2011/02/28/the-livingston-avenue-bridge
I managed to get in almost 14k. If I wasn't tired before, I am now.
I wound up making a short atmospheric film from two clips I recorded on Saturday, less than a minute long. I now know that I don't like iMovie, so I may just go back to using the spammy video editing software I installed on the work machine.
Life under a freeway. Sound on for this one.
Back to work.
