Aug. 3rd, 2020 02:11 pmOne of the best things about the days in the Farmer House with the Other R was that she knows all sorts of great songs. She would regularly sing Homegrown Tomatoes basically every time she went to make cheesy toast with tomatoes, and so now I think of the song every time I eat tomatoes from the garden.
Anyway, here's what I picked yesterday (in the colander, the ones in the bowl were from earlier):

*Almost* enough basil for a batch of pesto, except I'm temporarily out of olive oil.
Also, these are the Black Prince tomatoes I've been wanting to grow. We tried growing them at the El Cerrito house, and they grew all right, but as
sytharin predicted they were not as delicious as they can be because the East Bay doesn't get quite warm enough. We've certainly had warm enough weather out here, though. A plus, will grow again.
I also got more peaches and blueberries from the grocery co-op yesterday, so it was time for a peach-blueberry cobbler.

Dinner was ratatouille with pasta, then cobbler for dessert.
Yum.

And, YES. The Black Princes are delicious and I would recommend growing them next year, when you grow your 100% Salsa and Pesto Garden. (the best kind of garden, after all!)
