Saturday to do list
Sep. 8th, 2012 11:22 amI managed to get myself up and out of bed pretty early this morning, in time to bike out to the lake, do two laps in the single, bike back in to campus, and then to check the crickets. I've had a lot of Crew time this week, but not a lot of actual rowing time. While I can hope that the bicycling will help with cardiovascular fitness, it doesn't do much for getting my hands prepared. It was really, really fun to be out there, thinking, "What am I thinking? Head races in the SINGLE?" I'm not being sarcastic. This is a good time for the challenge. I'm going to prepare for the Head of the Charles by going to race in the Head of the Oklahoma three weeks beforehand, so I will even get in some racing experience. I don't have any particularly grand aspirations for the Head of the Charles, other than to just go out there and do it. I think it will be really good for me to just see how it goes.
Ahh yes, rowing. As the morning went on, the wind started to pick up pretty badly, to the verge of whitecapping, so that was a good time to bring the boat back to shore. Hopefully I'll make it back out tomorrow morning as well. I just have to get myself out there as much as I can on days or at times when I'm not coaching.
Other than that. Man. Projects did not complete themselves while I was out of town. If anything, there are more of them - a few things broke while I was gone, including two doorknobs and the dryer (heating doesn't work). This weekend, I hope to:
-Box up packages for a couple of people
-Finish fixing the front closet door (mechanism froze up) - will have to wait...replacement mechanism doesn't fit or match properly.
-Finish fixing the storm door for the back porch (inside handle snapped off while I was out of town)
-Plant strawberry and rhubarb seeds
-Dig a rowing paper out of a pile of mementos in the closet
-Work on curtains for the living room (step 1, get fabric)
-Get finances organized
-Plot route from Austin, TX to here
-Cook some food so I have leftovers to eat this week
-Grocery shop
-Laundry
I doubt I'll get everything done, but I'd best try to do so. Phew.
