Ugh. [money]
Oct. 4th, 2011 01:03 pmI am hoping that I will be able to calm down a little once more of the financial stuff gets sorted out. Gotta love those "turns out that..." moments. Yesterday, I found out that it turns out that my Texas state health care benefits don't kick in until February. So, if I want health insurance, I will be paying full price for the next four months, which will cost me $1600. Welcome to adulthood, I guess.
I don't know how much to start setting aside in an IRA. I will still have student loans to pay off. Then there are a few short-term expenses, like the deposit for utilities, the "installation" fee for having someone come out and light the gas, covering the house's security deposit, and the total cost of the moving truck and gas. I had hoped that the money I have worked hard to set aside up until now would cover all of those expenses, but it looks like no such luck. I *hate* having to take out loans, even if I know that I can pay them back through careful planning.
This is all making me regret renting this house just that much more. I wasn't in a good place, at all, when I had to decide on what kind of place to rent. The most realistic thing to do, at this point, is start looking for a roommate. You know, in my spare time, with the internet connection I will have to postpone purchasing. I really don't want to have to look anytime soon.
