So, it's almost the end of week one as a bicycle commuter. I noticed that I'm developing more of a tan, something I'm not too happy about. I don't want to use a full-force sunscreen (hate the texture/feel), but I might have to get into the habit of regularly applying a moderate one.
My legs have felt like they're on the verge of cramping up, the last two days. Tight muscles. I woke up in the middle of the night last night partially because they were bothering me. I've been drinking plenty of water (7 bottles' worth, one day) and have been adding a Nuun tab to one bottle every day to ensure adequate salt intake/balance. I need to stretch more.
Trying to get enough sleep has been difficult. If I sleep in at all in the morning, it means I have to ride during the middle/heat of the day to Tempe. I can stay somewhat late at school so I can ride home after the sun goes down, but then evenings are cut very short, especially if I get up to go rowing in the morning. I don't think I've actually been able to do a full days' work yet, despite the amount of time I have been spending out of the house. It all makes me appreciate my decision to live close to work that much more. Still, I'm very grateful to have a place to stay, and at least I've got access to a refrigerator and microwave at school so I don't have to eat out.
The handlebar palsy continues to heal, very slowly. At least it's getting better and not worse, and rowing doesn't seem to bother it at all. It hasn't been quite so painful, recently.
