Compost Compost Compost
Jan. 27th, 2010 11:00 amHmm, I'm up to my ears in projects, and have to go meet with my advisor momentarily. I'm trying to get two things out the door this week - a grant application for some composting materials, and the remaining verbiage for the Phoenix Bike Guide (after verbiage comes Mapping Mania!). I'm excited to write the introduction to the PBG - why we are writing the Guide, and how we got into biking here.
But before I work on the PBG, I'm gathering resources all about composting here in Tempe, Arizona. Or, namely, about some huge gaps in the composting resources. I discovered a place on campus where one can take food waste compostables, which is lovely but doesn't help me that much. I'm doing some background checking on what happens to yard waste in Tempe and on the ASU campus, which I believe all gets thrown away (so wasteful). I'm assembling a list of materials for the application. This afternoon, I will write up my proposal, and send it along to another project leader for review. She's going to get a worm bin farm going, which she'll use to help other people start bins. Then I'll send it in, and will get back to other matters.
