Inventory, Clearing
Jan. 26th, 2010 03:18 pmSo far, twenty-ten looks to be a year of clearing things out and reorganizing them. I can't quite say when things started to get severely out of hand - maybe it was back when I was writing my dissertation proposal. But things got out of hand on multiple fronts, as evidenced by the overflowing plastic container collection, and as evidenced by the thousand-plus e-mails sitting in my inbox.
I took care of the plastic containers and excess glass bottles in our kitchen earlier in January, on the day we got back from the Grand Canyon. I finally took care of my e-mail inbox today - I'm down to fewer than 50 messages. My data files, well, those are going to take a bit longer, methinks.
It's so much simpler to get things done when I have a more clear idea of the projects in front of me - when they can be counted. Suddenly, I can get back to reading research articles, and to analyzing data.
Hopefully teaching on Mondays will also make it easier for me to concentrate through the rest of the week. I'm not sure how well the new routine is going to work, yet.
