Well, this has been a fun weekend. I have gotten quite a few things done. Today I checked on my poor ants, which seem to be looking a bit better. Then I pinned some ants. I should take a picture of my ant collection at some point, because I am sure it would amuse many of you to no end. I have to finish it up for a class I took last fall. I'm now in the middle of baking bread, and have tidied up the Garage and rearranged a little bit.
Also, I bought a dishpan yesterday. I wish I had bought it when I moved in. It makes washing dishes SO MUCH EASIER because now I can wash and rinse at the same time. Amazing, huh? It's also larger than my sink. I might have to take a picture of it at some point.
I also bought a toolbox and put my paltry collection of tools in it (i.e. hammer plus tape measure plus 2 crappy screwdrivers). I should have bought one at Hardwicks, when I was in Seattle. But oh well. For those who are wondering, a nice corded drill would make a fantastic gift for me. Those things come in handy now and again. But don't all rush off to buy one at once.
Little home-improvement projects are always a lot of fun. Next up on the agenda are making new curtains and fixing the weather stripping around my door. I can see daylight even when the door is closed.

Well, darn.
Jan. 21st, 2007 07:28 pmEvery time I try to make bread, it always ends up too dense. Things looked promising at first today, but the auspicious first rise did not progress to a light'n'fluffy second rise. I could blame it on whole-wheat flour, but I don't think that's the problem. I'm just not sure.
On the other hand, the Syrian Zataar that
sytharin gave to me a looong time ago was delicious when mixed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and applied to the uber-dense bread.
Well, it's just about time for bed. Tomorrow morning I'm back to rowing again. Whee!
