Manufactured

It's strange to return to this place and realize just how extensively manufactured it is. In the city, people have managed to filter out so much of the natural world, such that only plastics and concrete abound.

Now that I've had a taste of life outside those bounds, I can't wait to return. I just started reading Cadillac Desert, and the introduction comments on how few people living in desert areas actually make it to the desert and experience it in its intense entirety. I'm sure I don't meet the qualification yet, as I've only spent parts of days at most in the heat.
