Is it weird or unusual to just change out my 2 front tires?

The back 2 don't have nearly as much wear. The front 2 definitely need to be replaced.

I imagine this throws a wrench into the whole "tire rotation" thing, is all.

It's a little unusual, but only because people would rather sell you all four tires.

If you have AWD you need all 4 tires changed.

Ah! That makes total sense. This car has front wheel drive. But now I know!

I buy just 2 tires all the time. I also haven't noticed huge issues from not rotating my tires reliably.
