A Mazda once bit my sister. She was carving her initials in to it with the sharpened end of a toothbrush.

Anyway. Back in 2001ish when I was discussing getting into roadsters and racing I had A LOT of man friends tell me I would wrap the car around a tree. The Miata was the first car I got to drive like I stole it.
Mazda 2 are great, slow off the line but if you aren't drag racing that realllly doesn't matter to you.

Miatas win track races all the time BTW.

They're fine! I've driven one as a rental a number of times and it drives nicely and is easy to handle, decent road view and comfortable seat. Downsides to me personally is the backseat is kind of cramped for adults in my opinion and the trunk space is pretty small.

As an aside I wouldn't personally buy a used car in the northeast without having a mechanic take a look at the undercarriage and assess any possible rust issues.

Heh, yeah, S got down on the ground to check the undersides for rust when we went to go look at it. And we're definitely having a mechanic inspect it, for good measure.

I think one funny part for me is one of my bases for comparison is Princess TinyCar, which was a Honda Z600, which makes the Mazda 2 look palatial. :^)

My only experience with a Mazda was decades (plural) ago. Not good then but today might be really different.

I had a Mazda3 hatchback in 2008-2009, it was one of my favorite cars I’ve owned. I don’t have any experience with the 2, though.
