We spent the night in Eureka, and got in a few minutes by the shore before continuing on our trip.






Big waves, tons of froth, and a beached hunk of log with a hole in it.





If you look closely, you can see the water spurting through the log:





Look at that foam fly up!










No room to walk on the beach itself that morning.

We live as far inland as it's possible to be on an island so we haven't seen the coast for two years now. :o(

I do love the ocean so much, the Pacific much more than the Atlantic. I hope that you find a way to make it out to the coast sometime soon. I was sad to hear about what happened to your Orkney plans.

The North Coast is glorious. If you ever go that way again and can take 101 all the way down, there are some spectacular spots to observe lagoons that are created by storm washover. They're fascinating systems.
