Brief travel notes
Nov. 11th, 2021 08:03 amVaguebooking: I am going on a very quick trip to meet with some people on the other side of the country.
Better early than late. This morning I told myself that my flight out was at 8:30. When I double-checked, I discovered it's actually at 9:30. I haven't biked to/from this airport all that many times, so I wasn't entirely sure how long the trip would take anyway. It turns out that it's a good idea to budget a full hour for the bike ride, taking a back route where traffic isn't so bad, all things considered. Since I left in time to make it to an 8:30 am flight, I have ample time to sit in the airport now and wait.
Apparently some of the funds from the federal infrastructure bill will eventually translate into money to renovate this airport. I can't say I fully understand why, but there we have it.
For this trip I'm bringing along my Brompton bag and my Queen Bee bag. I am very pleased by these luggages. The Brompton bag sits nicely on Frodo's front rack without a lot of extra fuss, and the Queen Bee bag is its usual lovely self. The main reason I haven't completely switched over to the Queen Bee bag from my backpack is that it doesn't load well into my existing panniers.
If on a future airplane trip I decide I want to bring along the Brompton + a larger piece of checked luggage, most likely I'd bring the Brompton front bag plus my backpacking pack; I watched a video demonstration of how to position a backpacking pack on the Brompton's rear rack in a way that is stable and reasonably convenient.
Blathering about luggage feels so mundane, and yet it's so satisfying to get things packed well for travel.

Date: 2021-11-11 01:49 pm (UTC)I got in my fair share of travel last summer, but at least this time I don't have to manage the driving and navigating!
