I borrowed a bigger wrench/spanner from work, and was finally able to loosen up the lockring on the old cassette, hurrah!

As you can see here, Emma approves of the borrowed wrench. Maybe I should get my own giant wrench, one of these days.

Stubborn cassette removal

Our rowing practice got canceled this morning, on account of the early rains from Isaias. I did not wind up managing to fall back asleep and eventually decided to head down to the boathouse at 7 am anyway to talk with a handful of people about a handful of things. Often so much easier than email, plus it made for a good test ride. I need to tweak something about Frodo's shifting but the new cassette helps a ton.

Our junior rowers, however, did hold practice and managed to get out on some beautiful, flat water:

Rainy morning row

This kind of weather is actually my favorite. I find it easier to concentrate when skies are overcast and rainy, and the dreary weather keeps people indoors, so roads and waterways are less crowded. Fewer lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and noisy backyard barbecues, too.
