Remembering how to go to work
Jun. 23rd, 2020 09:09 amLast week was all about learning and remembering new boathouse routines for rowing. To help with some of that, one of my teammates made this really awesome how-to guide for oar washing:

This week is all about remembering how to go to work. Which sounds like a no-brainer, right, except that it definitely isn't, because that means preparing and packing work clothes the night before, plus getting both breakfast and lunch ready to go, and otherwise remembering what things I need to pack and bring with me in to work. And now that I am at work, it's remembering my whole routine. I have to hobo-shower and change in the restroom because the gym isn't open (a good thing!), then heat milk, make coffee, and dine al desko.
The one other part that is a bit awkward is that the closest kitchen sink is in a cubicle office space behind a door that's locked after hours (and so apparently, also right now). That leaves me with the options of washing food dishes in my lab space (a huge lab safety no-no), washing them in the bathroom, or washing them in the drinking fountain. Since I know the chemical/safety risks in my lab space (absolutely minimal) I will probably just do that and hope that our safety officer never catches me in the act.
Also, for whatever reason, this morning when I showed up the door to the women's restroom on my floor was locked, so I had to call Campus Safety for that.
Other than all that hassle, boy am I glad to be here. It turns out I like my office and I like being able to go to work.
And now I should probably get some work done, while I'm here.
