Spring bike commute + Soccercat
May. 8th, 2020 09:31 amI took multiple bicycling photos yesterday on my commute. I'm kind of tempted to make a project out of taking photos of my bike in front of various spring flower events, except that right now there are THRONGS of people at the park and I just don't trust the unwashed masses to be very good at physical distancing in that kind of environment. So if I want to get into the thick of things I'm going to have to wait for a cold, rainy day. Or snowy day. Saturday morning, perhaps.
I didn't want to longer for long enough to improve the framing on this one, for example.

This one was more fun. They're putting in a fresh bike lane, just for me, hurrah!

This magnolia isn't going to look this magnificent for much longer, so I had to get this photo in yesterday:

Magnolias still aren't one of my favorite spring flowering trees. Cherries or redbuds are pretty grand, and I do like a good dogwood, too. Magnolias just seem too flamboyant, the petals too big and slimy when they drop. But the trunks have good structure. I'll give them that.

The cat's soccer ball order came in. She knew what to do, right away.

She loves these things. I ordered 12 soccerballs overall, because they always seem to disappear over time. Her favorite is to chase after them when thrown, like so (click for video from 2015):

But she'll pick them up and carry them around, and bat at them on her own, too.
I put out four of the 12.
