Happy Halloween!
Oct. 31st, 2019 09:09 amIt's barely 9 am and I think I can safely say I've already gotten some great mileage out of this year's costume. It's actually a partial re-use of older costume elements, but with improvements to be more biologically accurate. And I'm not completely finished yet: I will eventually add a stinger, mandibles, and maybe even a proboscis (because they're so cute!).
The pollen baskets are working fabulously. When she discovered them, Emma tried to play with them (she knows a sparkle ball when she sees one).
Have a ludicrous number of photos of me.
(first two from a teammate)

Why yes, I did bike to work in my costume.

Morning commuters are never awake enough to appreciate a costumed cyclist, though. I will wear the full costume for the evening commute. I'll have to think of a way to put the headpiece on my helmet.

...Okay. Two more, just for fun.

Sadly, I don't teach today, so I won't get a teaching action shot like last year. That was the most fun: seeing the looks on students' faces when they walked through the classroom door. Oh well.
I also think I'm going to continue my theme of biological costumes for future years. Maybe eventually I'll have enough that I can wear them all spring while teaching Animal Physiology. Hmm, life goals.
