Yesterday was a full day, begun with a 12-mile canal run.

There are so many stories to tell that I don't really know where to begin, or even which stories to tell, because it's unlikely I'll be able to recount more than one or two in full.

Oh, now I remember the one I wanted to tell.

Yesterday we hosted a birthday party for D--her 30th. The theme for the party emerged from a lengthy, heated discussion over party themes, with many of those with vested interests lobbying extensively for a given theme and making disparaging remarks about every single other possible party theme. Well, I learned one thing from my year as Dictator-in-Chief of the Monty Python Society. If you want to get something done, you've got to do it yourself. So I decided that it would be sweet to have a party themed SPACE. [livejournal.com profile] figment80, [livejournal.com profile] kihle, [livejournal.com profile] madondi, and I spent hours making some papier mache planets, assembling costumes, and putting up glow-in-the-dark stars all over the house. The planets were a smashing success, although people didn't smash them at the end of the night as I'd hoped.

Oh well.

My favorite part of all was after everybody had dispersed to various sleeping quarters, when I went around and turned out all of the lights and the glow-in-the-dark stars finally emerged.
