Four horseshoe crabs arrived today. Although I only ordered medium-sized ones, they're plenty big. They're now in the one saltwater tank in the aquarium room that is still up and running. I think the salinity's in the correct range. I need to get them some meat scraps for food. I wish I knew someone who is an expert on horseshoe crab care.
I also need to get an assortment of freshwater fish and a couple more reptiles for Tuesday's lab. I have a tank of tap water set up now to get things aerated and dechlorinated, but I haven't managed to sort out the right kind of heater or find any tank thermometers. I should also set up more water for some betas.
This is on top of the other reptiles and amphibians we already have. Plus getting instrumentation situated.
I think I might make the students calibrate the force transducers before we start using them to measure ventilation patterns in the reptiles.
