Got dropped off at the lab at 7 pm upon return from Tahoe. [sigh, I didn't care for Tahoe any more this time as compared to the last time]

The grad student who is collaborating with me on this cricket feeding project did a great job of triaging things on Saturday, when I wasn't there to help. Ordinarily, we have around 6-8 crickets molt into adults on a given day. On Saturday, 15 crickets molted. I'd had to bolt off on Friday to go show my driver's license at the car rental place, so things were rushed then as well. I worked on wrapping things up until 9 pm, then went home.

Someone, probably a homeless person, appears to have infiltrated the weekend building security, and urinated on the floor of the hallway leading to the bike storage space, in addition to defecating in the adjacent elevator.

Today: lipid sample analysis, then trial run #1 for the circadian oxidation experiment. I need to check the respirometry equipment to make sure it's all set up properly, too. Trial run #1 will happen at the 5 pm time window (i.e. 4-6 pm). Happy Fourth of July. The daily feeding experiment duties will need to happen before and after that timepoint.

Tomorrow we have enough crickets to run them at two timepoints. We need to withdraw food 5 hours before any given timepoint. Our options are: 9 am, 1 pm, 5 pm, 7 pm, 9 pm, 1 am, or 5 am, and if we do 5 pm today, it's probably best to pick more distant timepoints for tomorrow.
